QUESTIONS???

With all the possible choices, which Autopuller model is right for me?

Based on feedback and orders from other shooters as well an internet forums:

For Trap, the system would be either:
the Basic for the simple release of target or
the Deluxe with Following Pair and Rearm. With these routines, you can shoot a second target, immediately after the first, and with rearm, do not have to press the arming button for each shot.

For Skeet, the units would be:
Advanced, for the normal puller delay on call, or
Deluxe with Voice Delay and Report Pair. These two routines can match the delay of a normal puller, and you can practice the second opposite shot where the gun releases the target.

For Sporting Clays the units would be:
Basic for the simple release or
Deluxe with Following Pair and Report Pair . These routines enable you to practice your crossing targets on a report pair at the sound of your gun, or a second target from the same machine at the sound of your gun.

For the Competition shooter, the unit would be:
Deluxe with Voice Delay and International Delay or the Custom with Voice Delay, International Delay and Report Pair. The Deluxe gives you the ability with Voice Delay to match the normal pull response of a puller. The International Delay allows you to select the random 0-3 second delay on target launch. You can also combine the International delay with the Voice Delay, you now have the same delay as an inconsistent puller. The delay will vary just enough to force you to concentrate on the release and not anticipate the target

For the Hunter the unit would be:
Custom with International Delay, Following Pair and Random. These three routines combined, you do not know when the target will be released, or where it will come from. Also a second target will follow at the sound of your gun, coming from the same direction. It's like a normal walk when flushing birds.

If I shoot both Trap and Skeet, do I need to buy two different models?
No, the skeet model with work for both trap and skeet, you just have to make sure that you have the connectors wired correctly for the proper field. (See manuals for more details.)

Why isn't a connector supplied with the Autopuller?
Both the wireless and wired units do not come with a machine connector.
Many courses have been modified and updated to non-standard type connectors. We have no way of identifying the type and wiring configuration of your particular machine. You are responsible for identifying the type of connector and wiring configuration, obtaining and then installing the connector on the cord. Since there are only 3 wires on the Skeet/Sporting Clays model and 2 wires on the Trap model to connect, it is very easy to do. The specific instructions are included in the manual ,along with an explanation of what to do if the machines do not respond the way they should. We do not recommend using a standard household type connector on our units. If someone other than yourself were to use your puller, they may inadvertently plug the unit into an outlet and cause a failure. See connectors page for photos of the most common connecters that we carry in stock (conncetors).

Is the Autopuller compatible with all machines?
All Clay Delay products are connected to the target machine with an isolation relay. This allows any electrically released machine to be controlled. And since our units are self-powered with a 9-volt battery, the power requirements for the target machine, whether 12, 24 or 110v does not matter. All units have the ability to be adjusted to allow use with all hand-held or foot-operated release machines.

How do I wire the Autopuller to the target machine?
You need to determine what connector your machine or field uses, and attach the connector with the appropriate combination of the three wires in the cord of your Autopuller. (For a detailed explaination, see the wiring manual)

Why does the Autopuller have arming buttons?
A standard feature on all Clay Delay products is the top mounted arming buttons. A common concern with voice release systems is the amount of false targets do to erroneous sounds. Our products are in a standby mode until your ready to shoot. When ready, you simply touch the target you want, and call. After the shot, the unit goes back into the standby mode and ignores any sounds.

Due to popular demand, there is a rearming option. For trap, the routine you may select on the Autopuller Deluxe is continuous rearming. This allows you to shoot without pressing the button, For skeet and sporting clays, having multiple machines, you need to order the rearming routine available only in the Custom or Elite models. Keep in mind that when in a rearming routine, the Autopuller may trigger a target in a noisy environment.

Is the Autopuller weatherproof?
The Clay Delay products were designed to be your personal assistant when you want to shoot. Think of our unit as an extension of your gun, neither of which was designed to be left out in the elements. As we know, water and electricity do not mix. Simply shielding the controller from direct contact with inclement weather will prevent problems and give you years of problem free shooting.

I have a wireless key fob already connected to my machine. If I buy a wired Autopuller can it use them together?
There is currently no Voice release that will work in conjunction with a different wireless system, however we have developed an 'interrupter' that you install in your line to give you a time delay between when you press the key fob and when the target launches (see Specialty page). You can choose between a set time delay and a random delay (Interntational Skeet).

Does the Autopuller work for multiple shooters?

One of the standard features included on all Clay Delay products is a manual release button. You call for your targets as usual. When it's your partner's turn, arm the appropriate house and when a target is called for, simply press the manual button.

Can I buy Multiple Transmitters for wireless models?
Yes! You can purchase any number of transmitters to work with a single receiver. The price varies on the model and discounts depend on quantity purchased at the same time. Call to order 716-674-4489.

What is the Autopuller's Wireless Range?
The range for the wireless system is tested to 175 feet. The actual range may vary with environmental conditions.

If the receiver requires wiring, what is wireless about the wireless Autopullers?
The Autopuller is originally desinged for you to be able to go to the range and practice without distrupting the club's equipment. The receiver is designed to simply replace the pull cord , allowing you to move from station to station without dragging a cord between the controller on your belt and the receiver at the plug box.

Why are the Wireless models not avilable for International Purchase?
We do not currently have a frequency that is approved for use in Europe. We are developing that frequency and hope to have it available for Spring/Summer 2009. If you would like to purchase a wired model now, and up grade to the wireless when it becomes available, let us know and we will put you on the mailing list.

The place where I would plug in my receiver has a power outlet, do I still need the 9-volt battery?
No. An External power jack is available for the receiver. See the receiver options page.

Where would I find replacement fuses for the wireless receiver?

If you need more receiver fuses, a local source in your area is a store like Radio Shack. The part number for a package of 4 4-amp fuses is 270-1055. Since most target machines use very little current to release a target, a fuse with a rating of 2-amp up to 5-amp may be substituted for the 4-amp. You will still have the level of protection you need for your equipment.

I've been using my wired Autopuller, and loving it. Now I don't want to drag the cord with me. Can I make my current Autopuller wireless without buying a whole new system?
Yes. You can purchase a kit to convert your existing Autopuller, or you can send it back to Clay Delay for an additional charge and have a transmitter installed. See upgrades page

I have been using my Autopuller and now I wish that I had ordered different routines. Can I have my Autopuller reprogrammed with different routines?
Yes! You can send your Autopuller back to Clay Delay along with a note stating which routines you would like, and payment of $20 for reprogramming and $6 for shipping.

There are others at my club who have Autopullers, can I get a personalized label so I don't lose track of mine?
Yes. We can personalize any Autopuller for an additional $10. (See options page.)

How is the Autopuller shipped?
Our standard proceedure is to ship USPS Prioity (2-3 shipping). We are willing to ship UPS or Fedex at your request, however since it is usually more expensive we will add the difference to your shipping costs.
